What "horror" are our contemporary (female) bodies exposed to? For the Simultanhalle, Tamara Goehringer has created two new works based on research into the genre of body horror, which takes place on an everyday level but is primarily influenced by film. In addition to personal and cinematic references, her installations and performances sample images and narratives that cite ancient mythologies, psychoanalytic theory, and contemporary video games. 
In her two-part installation entrelazamos (lancinante), the artist uses material elements such as silicone implants and mouth-shaped practice skins for microblading. The work references, among others, Pedro Almodóvar's film "La piel que habito" (2011); at the same time, it reflects the topicality of cosmetic corrections and plastic surgery, which is taken ad absurdum in the work. In our contemporary culture, which is characterized by self-optimization and the maximization of beauty, such interventions, which can be the possible consequence of a body horror generated by social ideas, are more popular than ever (see cosmetic surgery, statista.com).
