2024, silicone, mesh


With her sculpture obsesión Goehringer delves into these inquiries. Silicone envelops a mesh body, forming a second, scale-like skin indistinguishable from the human mesh beneath. Referencing both Edvard Eriksen’s bronze figure Den lille Havfrue in Copenhagen and pervasive consumer-oriented pop culture, where identities, gender roles, and affiliations overlap like layers, the title nods to the eponymous pop song by the Bachata band ‘Aventura’. This thematic thread extends through all the exhibited works, evident in Goehringer’s sound installation on the upper floor. (...)
