Wie die Steine (just like stones)

2024, reading performance, six metronomes set in different dynamics, approx. 15 min

Wie die Steine (just like stones) is a performative reading structured by rhythm and gradual accumulation. Language is treated as material; it piles up, shifts, and slips, forming temporary structures. Six metronomes regulate the reading’s tempo. Their steady beats impose order and duration. Rhythm functions as a governing force, shaping attention and producing coherence where none is given. Communication appears as construction, dependent on timing and alignment. References to cairns, mineral formations, and processes of transformation surface alongside moments of failed or partial understanding. Solidity and instability remain inseparable. What appears fixed is composed of multiple elements, held together through continuous adjustment. The reading foregrounds how form arises through accumulation, variation, and rhythmic control.
